So its a 35 pt event, I have not seen if the event is going to have special rules or not (for anyone who’s played in one of these before you should remember that there is usually a special scenario thats used all day to win.)

I assume it will be a normal Steamroller formant with a special scenario, will will post what it is once I find out. I am trying to get the coin kit for this, there supposed to be faction coins.

PG Saidin invites you to come to Greensburg, PA on October 30.

Dark Ascension approaches, and the 3 moons will align shining fully on the Iron Kingdoms. The smart and superstitious will be safely in there homes; The treacherous and power hungry will race to the focal pont as arcane power surges from the heavens. The day spells ill fortune to all, but some may walk away with great power from above.

Set during the current time line, this battle involves all of western immoren. The minions of the dragon father plan to tap into the of the heavens on this dark day. So the call goes out "Who will fight the forces of cryx?" "Who will grab power to waste all of immoren?"

I'm working up details, the only thing I can tell you for sure is that the models from the leagues can be played in this event. Next, there can be only one of each character model on the board total, so some characters will need to be drafted by each side. Also I'm looking for two teams.

Cryx (and maybe some merc/minions) vs everyone else.

I am requiring that the cryx team have all 3 Lich Lords on the battlefield. Please post if you are going to participate and what your going to play so you can be on a team. I'm currently planning this for October 30. I will end up charging for this event, money goes toward some type of food and then door prizes.

The New Jersey Somerville Ogrun Bokurs (NJ SOBs) cordially invite you to our next tournament. This tournament is essentially a Hardcore styled format without the painting requirement. This includes awarding Hardcore prizes (ie for being undefeated, having the fastest caster kill, and having killed the most VPs). Prepare for the full MK2 revival of Hordes as Genesis hits Gatehouse Games in Duncansville, PA on August 7th.

Doors open at 1230, registration begins at 1, the event begins promptly at 2.

Cost is $5 for fully painted armies. The new store policy is no unpainted models.

As with the Resurgence event, we will be running an escalating format of encounters at 25, 35, and 50 points, with any matches beyond the third being run at the 35 point level.

Here’s the run down on what the folks over at Gatehouse Games in Duncansville, PA have planned for the summer:
Here it goes, the most complete listing to date of our upcoming summer events.
June 7 – 27 is Round 2 of Shattered Grounds. This time around it is the Blasted Heath battleground. New model rules, scenarios and conditions will be made public once available but why wait to get to the sweet details?
Starting June 3, we will hold our “Combat Engineer” day, where participants can earn the Combat Engineer stamp in their battle journals by being involved in the event. This event will focus on terrain pieces for different environments. Forests, lakes, buildings and other traps are the eligible pieces for construction. Anyone who is interested in building such a piece should consult back issues of No Quarter (only $1 for the NQ mags beside the IK minis) for inspiration or instructions. We will be using these pieces throughout this league, so be sure to withstand the test of time. Only by completing an appropriate piece will earn you the stamp.
Following the Combat Engineer day, the league will run every Thursday for the following three weeks. A weekly participation fee of $5 of product ($10 if using unpainted models) must be purchased. Put it towards that sweet, new jack or unit!
On June 26th, we will hold the Finale day. Some tables will be devoted to the finale event, with others in use for standard Shattered Grounds games. The winner of the finale will receive the Hero Commendation and a MK2 poster.
July will host the Hordes MK2 Genesis release event. This event takes place on July 24th and will run all day. Any faction is available for use, but only Hordes factions will be eligible for prizes. The cost will be $5 for fully painted and $10 for unpainted models. Details on the scenarios and list builds will become available soon.
August 16th-September 5th: Prepare for RAMPAGE!!!! Summer Rampage returns to Gatehouse Games every Thursday night. Fight for faction glory and gold. This is one event in the year that Faction on faction violence is prohibited, so bring friends to beat up! September 4th will be the final hurrah for Rampage with an all-day-beat-down. Again, Rampage will be $5/10 weekly product for participants. Face it, you’re gonna spend the money anyway; why NOT get stuff for your army too!?
And for Monsterpocalypse fans; July-August will bear witness to the release of VOLTRON!!! Special demos will be scheduled in advance, so make sure you free up some time to check out the newest expansion to Privateer’s collectible mini universe.
As always, specific event details will be posted and advertised when the dates approach. Keep watching out and keep fighting hard. You bring the bodies, I’ll bring the game.

BREAST CANCER BRAWL -

What is the Breast Cancer Brawl?

The Breast Cancer Brawl is an effort to raise money for breast cancer research, advocacy, education, and support organizations. The event is a fantasy table-top miniatures tournament and… painting competition using the popular WARMACHINE and HORDES game systems.

Entry fees to the event are donated to the breast cancer organization being sponsored. In addition, a unique tournament format is used to encourage additional donations throughout the tournament so that friendly competition can benefit a good cause. Privateer Press, the creators of the WARMACHINE and HORDES game systems and miniature lines, provides prize support for the event including special prizes for the tournament winner and the most generous donor.

The Breast Cancer Brawl is global in scope with charity tournaments happening around the world annually from September to December. With enough events, we all hope to do our part to help “knock out breast cancer”.

What is a fantasy table-top miniatures game?

A fantasy table-top miniatures game is a game that pits two players in a simulated battle using metal miniatures to represent various fantastic creatures, heroic soldiers and powerful machines of war. The game is played on a table with three dimensional scale scenery that represents hills, trees and other battlefield features. Dice are used to determine the success or failure of actions upon the table-top battlefield. During the Breast Cancer Brawl, participants will play in a series of games against opponents in a bracketed format where winners play winners until one player emerges undefeated at the end of the day. A typical game lasts about an hour and a half. Fantasy table-top miniature games also include a hobby aspect as players must assemble and paint their miniatures for use in the game. SHATTERED GROUNDS: NIGHTFALL

It's a new year and a new edition of Warmachine and Hordes so it only seems right that Privateer has completely redefined organized league play with Shattered Grounds: Nightfall.

Set in the undead plagued Scharde Isles, Shattered Grounds: Nightfall introduces a number of new aspects to league play:

- Season specific model rules to apply to your existing models.

- An online map updated daily with in game bonuses for the factions that control specific areas of the map.

- A Battle Journal to keep track of your achievements throughout the league.

- Unlockable stratagems that can be used in game.

- A Finale event where all map bonuses will apply and you will have an entire day to win glory for your faction

Registering for the League is only $10 and will include a Battle Journal you can use all year long. Future Leagues will cost a little less since you won't be paying for the Battle Journal.

The League will run from 4/5 through 4/25.

Privateer Events at Cold Wars

Undead Dan and a few other Press Gangers will be hosting events at Cold Wars 2010. Cold Wars is a primarily historical miniature convention put on every year by the Historical Miniature Gaming Society. The convention will be held from March 11th through the 14th at the Lancaster Host Resort.

How to Pre-Register for Privateer Events at Cold Wars

Once you have pre-registered for a badge with Cold Wars, please email events@keystonegamers.com with the confirmation number along with which events you plan on attending (Jacks 'n Beasts or Steamroller). All we need is proof that a badge has been purchased, so we can lock you in a spot to the tournament. NOTE: PLEASE REMOVE ANY FINANCIAL INFORMATION from the email.

Also, I will register you for a Keystone Gamers account (link) and assign you to a Cold Wars group. This will make it easier to send out reminders and updates should they occur. Email admin@keystonegamers.com, if you have any problems.

Middle Atlantic Team Tournament to be held on October 9th, 2010

The first Middle Atlantic Team Tournament (MATT) will be held in Media, PA on October 9th.

Each store or club within 2-3 hours driving distance will form teams of 3 players whose wins are counted together for the overall win of a team traveling trophy. If you have an odd number coming (say 4 or 5) members outside a 3-man team can still play but their points don't get added towards the team tournament prize.

Individual players still vie to win 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place, so there is plenty of reason for everyone to come and play.

March 20th - GO WILD! Charity Tournament to Benefit the York SPCA

Bring a single list 35pt list, Warmachine or Hordes. Here’s the catch, you and your opponent will have the opportunity to donate toward the shelter and get awesome in game effects like: Re-roll one die, get and additional focus or fury, force a warbeast to automatically fail or succeed on a Threshold check. Help out unfortunate animals and have fun at the same time!

All rounds will use the Killbox scenario from the Steamroller 2010 rules.

The entry fee is $10 or 10 points worth of donations.

Registration starts at 11, dice will roll at noon.

No coins or gift certificates will be awarded at this event since all proceeds are going to go to the shelter.

WARMACHINE Wednesdays will now be moved to Thursdays at Whatever!! in the DuBois Mall. I believe that for everyone who is interested Thursdays will be a lot easier to pull off.

Thursdays will probably become League night. We're hoping to start up some form of League play in April.

The goal is to have fun, and get games played in order to become more skilled with the game. The more you play, the better you get! So come on out and roll some dice!

November 22th - Thrall Harvest Charity Tournament to Benefit the Westmoreland County Food Bank

Thats right everyone its back.

The Vault Comics and Games is running a Foodmachine event November 22nd, at 1pm. All items collected go to the Westmoreland County Food Bank.

Be ready for some custom scenarios and missions.

A ten can donation is the fee to get in. The rest are for breaking rules.

500 pts, mixed event, one list

Like last year there are some special donations:

15 cans at sign up, your list can have an epic (one use only).

20 cans at sign up, your list can have any one non warcaster/warlock model/unit from a different faction (one use only)

What kind of rules you ask:
Want an extra focus or fury, donate.
Want to go first but set up second, donate.
Don't want your opponent to advance deploy a unit, donate.
Want to reroll a dice roll or make your opponent to reroll, donate.

There will be prizes given away; also a retribution force to be give to the person who donates the most items. So get out there and give.

November 28th – ThrallHarvest Charity Tournament to Benefit the York County Food Bank
Once again Comic Store West is proud to be hosting a Thrall Harvest tournament. This is a mixed Warmachine and Hordes event to help those in our community without enough to eat.
We will be accepting donations of canned food and in return the player will receive tokens that can be spent to break the rules.
Some of the effects generated by can donations include:
Re-rolling one die
Forcing your opponent to re-roll one die
Move terrain before the game starts.
Schedule
Registration Opens at Noon
Table Setup at 12:50pm
Dice Roll at 1:00pm
Each player should bring one 750pt army list, either Hordes or Warmachine. Turns will not be timed and the only measure of victory is survival.
The registration fee for this event is 10 cans of food.

In order to hype up the coming release of Privateer Press's Retribution of Scyrah release in September, I will be scheduling at least two Demo Days at Whatever!! in the DuBois Mall. I am not sure exactly what days I will be doing this as of yet ... but it will fall sometime between September 4th and October 2nd. I am aiming for Thursday night for these demos. It mainly depends on how long it takes me to get my shiny new Retribution models from the Company and then how long it takes my lazy self to get them assembled and painted. But ... you have been warned.

Remember that the Retribution book and models will be coming out in September. Talk to the staff at Whatever!! to special order your models.

COOL PAPER TERRAIN

I printed out some paper terrain templates for use during Summer Rampage. It will be functional and meet our needs. The store already has three boxes full of terrain so making all this in foam and such might be overkill. (If you want to donate your own materials, time and effort, do it!) I paid about $18 to get this printed out so it's cost effective. If you want your own stuff, go to Skeleton Key Games and pay for the PDFs. They have cool stuff. Please make sure that the templates get put back into the baggy they came in. After Summer Rampage is over, I will collect the templates for future use in events.

I was thinking about it today and realized that the most intelligent thing would not be to assign League points but to calculate Control Points in order to show players where they stand for earning the Summer Rampage '09 pins. (Duh!) So without further ado...

(From the Summer Rampage '09 PDF rules by Privateer Press:)

Awards:
First, second, and third place pins will be awarded to the players
with the top 3 accumulated control points. In the event of a tie, the
higher ranked pin will go to the player who earned more Control
Points.
Tip: Show Me the Money!
In the 2009 Summer Rampage league, a new prize is
on the line – the order that the Mk II force books are
released in 2010.
All WARMACHINE force books will be released before
the HORDES force books, but within their own game,
Summer Rampage determines the book order.

On Sunday, we will gather at WHATEVER!! in the DuBois Mall in order to get a jump start on Summer Rampage. At the end of the three week campaign, the top three winners will earn the first, second, and third place pins from Privateer Press.

However, Sunday offers some special prizes:

The day's overall winner will get $15 of Privateer Press swag. You will get to pick $15 worth of product out of a list of available models for your Faction. The swag will be ordered and you'll get it when it makes it to my door.
The day's overall winner will "earn his stripes." These stripes can be added to your Tournament shirt ... if you have one.

Legions is going to host another Warmachine/Hordes event on August 9th and its a 1-1-1-1 event.

You get the following in a 1-1-1-1 event:

Thats it. Also you'll have to keep the total points for this force at or under 350 pts. **This will be a one list event and caster kill only.

So as you can see its a mixed event. Rounds will be timed.

BATTLE REPORT FROM GATEWAY GAMES

Round one, Steve advanced across the battle field toward what seemed to be the army of the undead. Gorshade then ordered his forces to run to there positions, the Bane knights took cover in some ruins that the seemed to just pass through with in a blink of an eye to morgal. Then some ghostly figures that resembled pirates headed right at morgals forces. While DJ and Nightmare moved up behind Gorshades forces.

Round two, Morgals forces moved into position and prepared for the charge on the creatures from hell that loomed in front of them. As Molik Karn fiercely gripped his blades egger for the battle to come after running to his position to the left flank.
Gorshade Chuckled at what was to come of the foolish skorne, as he called six more figures from hell itself and then commanded Bane Lord tarteruse to charge forth. With a large swing of his axe tarterous cut down three swords man and before the bodies could even hit the ground he and summoned them into the forces of the undead. The pistol wraith that sprung forward and managed to put two shots into the Rhinodon that weirdly turned its back to the dangers in front of him. While the soul hunters flanked the rest of the swords men and Veninators collecting souls as they go.

Round three, Morgals minions charged Bane Lord Tarterous after watching him cut down there allies in battle. He managed to survive there initial blows, but then Molik Karn had had enough of this monstrosity in front of him and charge to land a parting blow to the fiend that just seemed to disappear in front of them. The Swords man and Karax attempted to position them self’s to counter the soul hunters who swiftly caught them by surprise. They managed to dispatch one and severally wound the other two.
The veninators then attempted to gun down the rest of the house like creatures that were in front of them. The Karax kneeled so that the veninators could attempt to Combine there shots into there targets. With quick reflexes the soul hunters dodge the shots and two poor Karax grunts feel in line of the shots that missed.

After taking such loses gorshade depleted his energy shield which seemed to grant these metal monsters in front of him the power to do there worst. As Gorshade advanced up he put his arms up and with after speaking fewer words a pulse of what seemed to be a invisible power rained out of gorshade and the Skrone forces seemed to be unable to us there magic abilities. Then the Hells Nightmare Disappeared and Morgal were shocked to see one of the Ghost like pirates disappear and then the War jack materialize in front of him. Striking him with all its fury. Morgal managed to evade most of the attacks but the two that had glanced him left him very wounded. In the back round Bane Knights moved into position to charge, behind the bile thralls which seemed to just deflate in front of them onto the unsuspecting Cataphract Cetrati. After being wounded by what seemed to be a strong acid there where charged by the bane thralls which seemed to weaken there armor. The bane thralls managed to strike down two members of there unit.

Round 4, after feeling the cold steel of what seemed to be his worst nightmare he ordered the Cataphract to charge the bane thralls that failed to complete the charge at them. As Morgals Advisor had interrupted to point out a moment of weakness in then eerie Gorshades field setup. This would give him great tactical advantage and a chance to lay waste to the evil forces in front of him. Morgal Vanished behind the Metal monster and then began to advance into position and then spoke the ancient tongue of the skorne and gave the Cataphract what seemed to be the ability to pass through there enemies in front of there faces. They advanced up to Gorshade as left some what defenseless and then began to strike him in combined attacks. The first blow seemed to almost take the life right out of him as the second group managed to miss the commander in front of then which was neither his end. After collecting his thoughts from what was thought to almost be frenzied Molik Karn charged the weakened Gorshade. His first blades managed to miss with out be able to focus his mind to guide his strikes. While the agonizors scream peirced gorshades arcane focus and denied him the ability to force nightmare.

Gorshades Bane Knights charged forth to save there leader from impending doom. The quickly dealt with the Cataphract with massive blows from there axes. The foolish leader in a daze casted his cloak of shadows upon himself and prepared for the worst to come. Death Jack then Vanished and reappeared next to Morgal as he felt that his final blow was upon him. He gave a sigh of relief when the frightening Death Jack missed with both attacks. But Nightmare came approached from behind managing to deal a little more damage to morgal but unable to become the dealer of death.

Turn five, The Last thing Gorshade heard was the war cry of Molik Karn as he yelled off with his head and laid the final blow to Gorshade.

TempleCon 2010 - now with more space!

Actually, all hokiness aside, we really do have more space this year - nearly twice the space that we had for TempleCon 2009. We've listened to your requests and moved to a whole new venue with more affordable rooms and free parking to take some of the sting away from your wallet, while still maintaining our high standards for quality and luxury. Plus, the gaming and main performance areas of the convention are all on one floor now (yay! no more stairs!), and in spacious rooms that are close by each other rather than spilling over into rambling corridors.

If you came to TempleCon 2009 and felt like you needed a shoehorn to fit into the board game room, you will be pleasantly surprised by the amount of space we've set aside for both open board gaming and scheduled board game events. V:tES still gets quite, out-of-the way space to facilitate concentration, while Magic and other CCGs now get a glorious and spacious atrium room to throw down in. Wargamers get even larger rooms specially devoted to a huge array of our custom-build terrain tables to give you superior battles, and for WARMACHINE/HORDES players, the scenario tables are back!

Thanks to your feedback, RPG players now get a large room devoted solely to multiple role-playing events, close to the main area of the con, but less noisy than in 2009. And TempleCon 2010 features two brand-new LARPs - one created by the fine folks at Unhallowed Metropolis, who are coming out from Seattle especially to introduce you to their own nefarious brand of Neo-Victorian horror. Our second LARP continues in the fine World of Darkness Vampire: the Masquerade tradition, with a Sabbat twist that we think you'll love. Retro-futurist creepiness at its finest!

Our huge new LAN Room now offers both our perrenial favorite Xbox 360 tournaments and Wii events, plus now players have the opportunity and space to bring their PC gaming equipment and link up with other TempleCon members for the mother of all LAN parties!

MAKING PLANS FOR WHATEVER!! IN THE DUBOIS MALL

I got a chance to hang out at Whatever!! in the DuBois Mall for a bit tonight. We talked about the on-going League and how the players are happy with the participation. There are at least two new players who have expressed interest, and I made contact with a gentleman named Dave from near the State College area who might be interested in coming out for some gaming as well. So I'm glad to see some possible growth in numbers.

Also, the guys expressed interest in some tournaments for the coming months. They'd like to get in some small events here and there when I have time. Once my schedule change goes into effect at work, I'll have Thursdays and Fridays off. So that opens up the possibility for some events here and there depending on the availability of players and so forth.

We even might sneak in a MONPOC event here or there. We'll have to wait and see.

So things look good for WHATEVER!!. As long as the players and the store staff are happy, that's a good thing.

Bellevue WA. June 30, 2009—Privateer Press is pleased to announce Grind, an extreme combat sports board game for two players ages 14 and up releasing this October. In Grind players customize a team of steamjacks—10-ton, steam-powered mechanical robots—and battle to move a large, spiked ball into their opponent’s goal. The game comes with several highly detailed plastic components, including six Runner steamjack figures, four Crusher steamjack figures, 32 interchangeable weapon arms, two spiked pillars, and the Grinder ball. August 22nd - GO WILD! Charity Tournament to Benefit the York SPCA

Bring a single list 750 pt list, Warmachine or Hordes. Here’s the catch, you and your opponent will have the opportunity to donate toward the shelter and get awesome in game effects like: Re-roll one die, get and additional focus or fury, force a warbeast to automatically fail or succeed on a Threshold check. Help out unfortunate animals and have fun at the same time!

Victory will be by caster kill only. Full rules including acceptable items for donation will be available soon.

The entry fee is $10 or 10 points worth of donations.

Registration starts at 11, dice will roll at noon.

No coins or gift certificates will be awarded at this event since all proceeds are going to go to the shelter.

The Demolition Derby rules.

Build 1 750 list. 10 min timed turns. 85 min + random rounds. Warmachine/Hordes 1.5

Whats 1.5? To level out the playing field a bit, warjacks have there abilities from Mk 2. That only entails that they are destroyed after all their damage is marked off and that when they loose a weapons system is a die off (also the rules for movement systems as well). You will still be using there mark 1 cards.

How does this work?

You only get points for the following:

Warjacks/Warbeasts killing a warjack or warbeast - Full vps
Warjacks/Warbeast preforming a power attack on a warjack/warbeast - 1 vp
Warjacks/warbeast killing the opponents caster - 1 vp
Warjacks/Warbeasts killing a warjack/warbeasts with a power attack - 2x vps. (the power attack has to finish off the warjack/warbeast)

Infantry, solos and warcasters killing things gives you no points what so ever. The person with the most victory points at the end wins (Records and Strength of Schedule will determine tie breakers).

Join us on July 25th for the UnOfficial Southeastern PA Semi-Regional.
This tournament will be Steamroller 4.0 format.
Bring two 750 Point Army Lists to Six Feet Under Games in New Holland PA.
This will be our only Official Privateer Trophy tournament.
Players may Pre-Register for this tournament through Six Feet Under Games 717-351-0359
Pre-Registration is $10, and will close July 18th.
Registration from July 19th to the day of the event will be $15
We will be holding a painting contest during the Round 2-3 break.

WHATEVER! WAR LEAGUE RAGES ON

The War League continues at Whatever! in the DuBois Mall.

Larry and his Menoth army won the first phase of the War League, and he continues to rampage through the other armies. Scott and his Trolls are a real threat followed by Pat and his Skorne. The second phase of the War League will end on July 1st so if you want to get a few more quick games in make sure to rush on down to the store today.

I stopped in after work, and was pleasantly surprised to see the gaming table set up and a group of the faithful gathered to talk shop. I got a chance to hang out with awhile and discuss WARMACHINE and the Local Gaming Community. I also had a chance to meet a young man who was brand new to the game. He was in the process of building a Khador army with the Battlebox as a starting point. (And I got to watch Scott trying to glue together Assault Commandos to help the young man out, so that was amusing too.)

Rumor has it that Cygnar has declared war on Menoth. Get ready to ride the lightning, Larry.

FRIDAY NIGHT FUN ANYONE?

Okay, so we all know that organizing events and such can be frustrating.

We all share the same interest in Privateer Press games, but we all work in different industries which require differing schedules, days off, and so forth. So it can be hard to get together just to hang out socially much less to get together for hobby-related events. So time and employment is a factor.

Another issue is grouping. Some people say that the DuBois Gaming Community suffers from cliques which ultimately divide the players and cause drama. A clique is a exclusive group of people who share interests, views, purposes, patterns of behavior, or ethnicity. The problem with referring to the gaming community as being separated by "cliques" is that in today's society of political correctness and the oh-so-easily offended persons is that using such a term references the gaming community in a negative manner. It is a term of abuse or term of disparagement. And in an age like ours with failing businesses, soaring gas prices, and frustrations at every turn the last thing we want to do is drive another wedge in the local gaming community. So I'd rather refer to the groupings as "peer groups" which is less abusive and acknowledges the fact that the groupings tend to relate to circles of friends and associates. Sometimes we can get one peer group together for an event but the other peer group ends up unavailable. In a perfect world we'd all be free, willing, and able to participate in every event ... but we don't live in a perfect world.

In any case, my work schedule will be changing again in the near future. I will be getting different days off ... Thursday and Friday ... which may allow me to arrange a few events for the Local Gaming Community from time to time.

So keep your eyes peeled. I'm going to be "thinking outside the box" to try to run a few events in the future. I'm hoing that from time to time I can get together with a few local players for some Friday Night Fun with WARMACHINE and HORDES.

What Is the Breast Cancer Brawl?

The Breast Cancer Brawl is a way for you to participate in a worthy cause while having a good time playing the games we all love. There are two parts of the Breast Cancer Brawl – the Play to Save a Life tournament and the Pretty In Pink painting competition.

The Play to Save a Life event is tournament format for various tabletop miniatures games of any point size and or level that we hope to see held in local game stores across the globe. The rules and scenarios are similar to standard tournament formats with a few changes to make things interesting. The most important part is that entry fees are donated to a breast cancer charity and that the rules of the games allow players to donate even more money to a good cause in exchange for in-game effects like re-rolling the dice. Anyone can run a Play to Save a Life tournament at his or her local game store or gaming club. We’ve found that official game company volunteers, tournament organizers, and store employees are the best candidates for this as they’ve already got experience organizing events and they’re used to sitting out of the competition.

The Pretty in Pink painting competition is a way for you to raise awareness through the miniature painting and modeling hobby. Participants simply paint up a favorite miniature from any company in a way that raises awareness of breast cancer. This can be done through simple 'pink' paint jobs, using greenstuff to give your models pink ribbons, and more. Participants should be creative and effective in their modeling and painting. We have two categories for which to submit your painted models: The "single female" category and "other." Any other model, diorama, or scene that doesn't fit into the "single female" category will be placed into the "other" category.

The Gaming Organization of DuBois (G.O.D.) has decided that its best course of action is to cancel their Mercenary Mayhem event slated for July 18th. They reported this will be their final attempt at organizing an event for the community. They are planning on donating the trophies and prizes intended for the event to The Vault for a possible event in the future.

Downtown DuBois Matters

We're excited about our new summer series beginning in June called Thursdays Downtown! Its a fun-packed, downtown, outdoor open house from 5-8 p.m. every first and third Thursday in June, July and August. Its an opportunity for people to come downtown and get familiar. They can enjoy the evening activities, visit, dine, shop and enjoy special music.

The fun begins on Thursday, June 4th. The first event is right before the Festival of the Arts and should be a nice connection to festival activities on Friday and Saturday. Starting June 18th, Music Fest at the Cherry Amphitheater in city Park will be another nice connection. With all the sports activities and fun stuff, you could spend a lot of time in or around downtown DuBois!

Live music, food and fun activities are being planned, based around six different themes: Outdoor Café, Bike Night, Big City Life, Oldies Night, Celebrate Culture and Country in the City. All throughout the summer, well be promoting summer sidewalk sales as well as food and drink specials.

These events are meant to:
-Bring regular crowds to downtown DuBois.
-Bring crowds of varied ages and interests, depending on
the themes.
-Encourage shopping opportunities from 5-8 p.m. (or longer)
on Thursdays throughout the summer.
-Provide family fun and entertainment in Downtown DuBois.
-Support local musicians and entertainers.
-Build memories among our youth of fun things in Downtown
DuBois.
-Encourage partnership with businesses, service organizations
and others to provide manpower and support the costs
of the events.
-Work with local and regional media outlets to promote
Thursdays Downtown.
-Provide our businesses regular opportunities to participate
in live demonstrations, unique marketing, sampling, in-store
promotions and sidewalk sales.
-Give prospective businesses another reason
to locate downtown

"PICK YOUR POISON" AT THE VAULT IN GREENSBURG, PA

The Vault in Greensburg, PA is hosting another event on June 14th.

Make one 500 pt list, no caster included in these points (so your 500 pts is just warjacks, troops, solos). This is a Mixed Mark 1 Event.

Then you have to bring at least 4 different warcasters with you. When you get to your table you will only show your opponent which warcasters you brought (not the list). Your opponent then chooses which warcaster you are to use for the battle.

350 SMACKDOWN IN PITTSBURGH PA JULY 12

In the first game, you play to see who defends the table. The winner gets to defend the table against new players. Caster Kill is the only mission. If the defender wins he remains at the table. But as you play your force grows weaker due to attrition. For each unit that ends a game with 50% or less of starting of value, then the unit starts the next game with one fewer model. For each unit that ends the game with no models remaining, the unit starts the next game with two fewer models. For each warbeast or warjack that is no longer on the table at the end of the game begins the next game with one point in each branch or column. All penalties are cumulative should the player successfully defends the table once again.

Back on 12/5/08 I posted a short list of models I was hoping that Privateer Press would make within the Retribution models. My #9 choice was Dawn Guard, and today Privateer Press published a concept picture of their Dawn Guard. Nice.

I also make a reference back to May last year when I was guessing that Ios would be the next faction. Many of the locals thought I was nuts. But I'm glad I was somewhat right.
